There are three glasses as you can see  in the picture. In the first glass the potato is at the bottom of the glass, in a second glass the potato is floating in the middle of the glass, in the third glass the potato is floating at the surface of water. The reason behind this   phenomena is  that when we change the density of water by adding other substances in it.
In the first glass we have taken simple water.In this glass  potato does not float and it is lying at the bottom because its density is more than that of water.
In the second glass we have taken half glass of saturated  solution  of water  and salt then we put potato in it start floating on the surface of solution then we filled this solution with simple water. In this glass potato is floating in the middle of the glass. It happens because the density of lower half glass of the water is more than the potato and the density of upper half is less than the potato.
In the third glass we have taken the saturated solution of salt and when we put potato in it .It starts floating at the surface of the solution. It happens because the density of the solution is more than the potato.
